Overview
We are seeking an experienced Customs Manager/Customs Brokerage Manager to oversee day-to-day brokerage operations and lead a team of approximately ten Customs Entry Writers in our client's Charlotte branch. This role combines people leadership, regulatory expertise, and operational oversight to ensure compliant, timely, and low-risk import processing.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and mentor a team of customs entry writers, driving accuracy, accountability, and professional growth
- Oversee import activity, entry quality, and processing timelines
- Monitor transaction trends, rejections, and performance metrics
- Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, tariff classification, and valuation requirements
- Lead internal reviews, audits, and corrective actions as needed
- Act as the primary point of contact for customs authorities and key stakeholders
- Maintain required import records and documentation
- Partner with internal teams to streamline processes and reduce clearance delays
What We’re Looking For
- Active U.S. Customs Broker License
- 5+ years of experience in customs brokerage or trade compliance, including people management
- Strong working knowledge of CBP regulations, HTSUS, and ACE
- Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop teams
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and communication skills
