We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Customs Entry Writer to manage import documentation, customs filings, and regulatory compliance.
Role Summary
The Customs Entry Writer will be responsible for preparing and submitting accurate customs entries, ensuring compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, and supporting timely clearance of imported cargo. This role requires strong attention to detail, regulatory knowledge, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and submit customs entries via ABI for air, ocean, and ground shipments
- Classify merchandise using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS)
- Ensure accurate valuation, duty calculation, and country-of-origin determination
- Review shipping documents including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and arrival notices
- Communicate with customers, overseas agents, and CBP officers to resolve entry issues
- Monitor and respond to CBP requests, exams, holds, and CF28/CF29 notices
- Maintain compliance with U.S. import regulations, PGA requirements, and company procedures
- Assist with post-entry corrections, protests, and audits
- Maintain accurate entry records and documentation
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience as a Customs Entry Writer or Import Compliance Specialist
- Strong working knowledge of CBP regulations and ABI entry filing
- Proficiency in HTS classification and duty calculation
- Experience handling FDA, USDA, FCC, DOT, and other PGA filings preferred
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with customs brokerage software and MS Office
